Requirements to enter the PMI® certification exams include;
The PMP® Exam;
Category 1: Be a university graduate, have at least 4500 hours of project management experience in the last 3 years, and have taken 35 hours of project management training.
Category 2: Be a high school graduate, have at least 7500 hours of project management experience in the last 5 years (can be any role within a project), and have taken 35 hours of project management training.
The CAPM® Exam;
Category 1: Be a university graduate, have at least 1500 hours of project management experience in the last 2 years (can be any role within a project), and have taken 23 hours of project management training.
Category 2: Be a high school graduate, have at least 2500 hours of project management experience in the last 2 years (can be any role within a project), and have taken 23 hours of project management training.
PMI® recommends training for these exams. You can take advantage of Mentor Project Management’s seminar and certificate programs that last 23 and 35 hours.

It is not a prerequisite to be a PMI® member in order to take the certification exams. The costs of becoming a PMI® member and applying for the exam are;
For the PMI® membership: 120 USD (for one-year membership + first-time entrance fee)
For the PMP® exam application: 405 USD for PMI members, 555 USD for non-members
For the CAPM® exam application: 225 USD for PMI members, 300 USD for non-members
PMI® gives all candidates a registration number to take the exam. The exam can be taken with this registration number in one of Prometric’s online exam centers. There is no additional charge to take the exam.
Since August 2000, the exam can only be taken online, computer-based. These exams are multiple choice. The PMP® exam lasts 4 hours and includes 200 questions, of which at least 107 must be answered correctly (61%). The CAPM exam includes 150 questions and lasts 3 hours.
Mentor’s Project Management seminars and certificate programs are given in Turkish but all terms are also provided in English. It is recommended that participants take the exams within 45-60 days after completing the training programs.
According to a survey done by Fortune magazine in 1998, Project Management was selected the number 1 career of choice and that this will continue to be a growing field in the coming years. The PMP® and CAPM® certificates given by PMI® are important steps to take in gaining in this new career.
