Graduated in 1981 from Middle East Technical University, Science-Literature Department, with a B.S. in Mathematics. Was a mathematics teacher at Izmir Private Turkish High School in the 1982-1983 school year.
Worked as a systems programmer on IT projects at Aliağa Petkim from 1983-1987.
Worked as a project team member on various IT projects at Bimsa / I-Bimsa (the Information Systems division of Sabancı Holding) from 1987-1997.
Worked as project manager on close to 18 different IT projects at Bimsa / I-Bimsa, for internal and external customers, from 1997-2005. As the project manager for the Municipality of Kadıköy conversion to e- services project, Ms. Şeşen received the e-local management services award at the 2000 e-TR awards.
In addition to her regular duties at Bimsa / I-Bimsa, Ms. Şeşen played an active role in obtaining the ISO-9000 certification for the company. She continued work on quality issues as an internal auditor and worked actively on application development methodologies and project management methodologies for the company. She also provided DB2 training to IBM customers.
Bircan Şeşen, who is a member of the Istanbul Project Management Association, started to work as an instructor and consultant at Mentor Project Management Training & Consultancy in 2006.
